![]() What is important is that all non-human enemies (including bosses) can drop soul orbs when killed. ![]() Instead of spirit weapon you now have demon form, which isn't important since it basically does the same shit. Not sure if these tracks will just end up being copypasted through the rest of the game but I hope not. Both missions had different ambience music, regular combat music and boss music. Not sure if they have more stuff in them but it seems so. Skill trees look like mini-PoE trees now. ![]() People in chat were saying that the alpha of the original Nioh also had like 3 weapon types so let's hope they add the rest later. They added dual axes, which are new, work similar to dual swords and can be thrown at enemies in different ways. ![]() Axe is gone, dual swords are gone, chain scythe is gone, tonfas are gone. New status effects but I have no idea what they do All the loot/stat fuckery is still here, with some new modifiers like corruption weapons and possibly more. I like the mission structure in Nioh, it works well for the game and lets me replay cool missions and bosses whenever I like. Let Dark Souls/Sekiro have their big open world. Game is still mission based, which is good. A normal demon enemy seems about as complex as an average Sekiro miniboss. Enemy attacks are quite varied and numerous like in the first game (the hammer demons jump all over the place and do multiple attack combos and grabs, snakes have 3 different ranged attacks, one of which paralyzes you, several melee strikes and a grab). A lot of reused enemies from the 1st game (human soldiers, red horned demons, skeletons, zombies, slimes) but also a lot of new ones - really fast and agile human dual axe wielders, big one legged hammer demons, snake demons, little goblin things that become big if they take a bite out of you with their grab attack or eat another enemy's corpse, weird giant slugs with human faces. However, they look nicer - the outdoor village area is in full daylight as opposed to nighttime when 90% of the outdoor Nioh 1 levels take place, and the cave has a lot of interesting structures like shrines, idols and other cool looking things that make parts of it look distinct. Area design is very similar to the 1st game so far - half of the first level is an outdoor village/fortification and the second half is a burning village where you run around on roofs dropping down water buckets on open fires the 2nd level is a cave dungeon. Graphics are very similar but areas look nicer with better lighting and everything has a bit more detail to it. Personally I'm glad that it's still Nioh and they didn't try to turn it into Sekiro 1.5 or someshit. It's a lot like the 1st game, maybe too much, which can be a determent to some people. Watched it at work, some thoughts/observations: They are able to bring the hero into the Dark Realm, which increases their powers to great magnitude, so Hideyoshi will need to balance their battle strategies to maintain the upper hand. There's a 3 hour long gameplay stream of the first 2 missions on twitch. The Yokai have a trick up their sleeves, though. Hideyoshi will then be able to use the powers of that Yokai, which can be upgraded like weapons. Their Yokai aspect allows the hero to access supernatural abilities, powered by soul energy that is transferred upon the defeat of an enemy demon. A group of up to three players can explore and fight alongside each other in online co-op, and there’s an asynchronous multiplayer system that turns other players and their custom protagonists into NPCs that assist Hideyoshi. As for the gameplay, it looks very good for this stage of its development, and Team Ninja has introduced new features and new mechanics to invigorate the next game. Some are tailored for offense and others are more suited for stealth, enabling unique playstyles and builds just like Nioh 1. Hideyoshi will undergo differing Yokai transformations with their own strengths and weaknesses. Although the options shown were limited in the Nioh 2 demo, there will be lots of ways to customise Hideyoshi, including facial features, age, and the degree of ‘femininity exuding from your gestures’. Hideyoshi is a half-human, half-Yokai hybrid, and players will use a character creation system to create their own character this time around. The hero of Nioh 2 is a mercenary, who after meeting the merchant Toukichirou, will assume one shared name with their new associate: Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In an interview with 4Gamer, Nioh 2 producer Fumihiko Yasuda explained a little of the story of the next game, and what players have to look forward to. At Tokyo Game Show, Nioh 2 gameplay and story features were unveiled in a demonstration and interview, revealing online co-op play, character creation, and Yokai soul superpowers (via DualShockers).
